Das ZiMMT ist in der vorderen Halle des Kontor 80 in Leipzig, in dem sich auch mein Atelier befindet. Jedesmal, wenn ich da vorbeikomme, sind die Leute fett am Schaffen und das find ich ziemlich geilo!

Heute haben sie das Crowdfunding für das ZiMMT gestartet. Um es offiziell als Veranstaltungs- und Produktionsort öffnen zu können, muss die alte Krahnhalle eine letzte Prüfung bestehen: den Brandschutz! Dafür benötigen sie 25.000€ für Gutachten, Architekten und nötige Umbaumaßnahmen und sind auf Unterstützung angewiesen!

Preserving Worlds

I was just being made aware of this very nice video series.

In their own words: „Preserving Worlds is a documentary traveloguethrough aging but beloved virtual worlds.“

Here’s the intro to it, there are quite a few episodes about different Games/their respective editors, online chat software, and all sorts of past ways of creating digital experiences that can be shared.

While writing this here, I realised, that the people publishing these videos are also behind Means Tv, which is a worker-owned streaming service, which to me sounds like some kind of marxist Netflix, whatever that means. I haven’t really gotten around to find out how it works and what it means yet. I’m rather putting this out here as a reminder to myself it exists.

Multilanguage

After another day-long session of hawoinhfpnwöpiJDW, I finally added Multilanguage support to this here website. Since I can’t really be arsed to translate all of my blogposts, I think I’m gonna concentrate on the Bio/CV and Project pages and keep the blog as a random mixture of German and English and occasionally Ökhpealihfajerl. I’ve already translated a few Projects, but it’s probably going to take a while until everything is there in both English and German.

Since the lockdown keeps on going, I’m pretty sure I’ll get there eventually.

Trauriger Tag

Heute jährt sich der Todestag meiner Mutter zum ersten mal. Eigentlich wollte ich heute meinen Vater besuchen, habe aber aus Coronagründen darauf verzichtet. Fühlt sich nicht so gut an. Trauer ist eine merkwürdige Angelegenheit. Kommt immer mal wieder durch, und dann muss man Platz machen, ob man will oder nicht.

Ich hab ihre Atelierkaffeekanne geerbt und trinke nun fast täglich einen Gedenkespresso…

Irgendwann muss ich dann auch noch einen Text für ihren Abschiedskatalog schreiben. Das ist nicht einfach.

A-frame test

Akim from hitness.club recently made me aware of a-frame, a super duper simple framework for web vr developped by some Mozilla people. I am quite intigued to say the very least. Here’s a first test of using a 360° Panorama I made in the crappy toilet of Jos Diegel’s Studio with the crappy stitching tool of my Playstation Vita:

This is a reality now

I’ll have to do a lot of writing in the very near future. The Gl0tchkonsole (my circuit bent Playstation2) is nearing its completion and I found out that Eyetoy:Play has an option to display a camera feed without effects. Which means that I am now able to use the PS2 for fabulously glitching live footage, something I was hoping to be able to do for quite a while!

I did a few tests yesterday and I am really happy with the results.

Webseit bereit soweit!

Uaaaaah! Das war nochmal ein ordentlicher Kraftakt! Nach endlosem zähen Dahinkriechen durch die WordPresshölle hab ichs geschafft, die Webseite mal endlich in einen Zustand zu bringen, der sowohl meinen ästhetischen Ansprüchen genügt, als auch hinreichende Funktionalität bietet. Hier wird es dann in Zukunft also wieder Blogeinträge und Neuigkeiten und Dingse und Sachen und so geben.

Tröööt Wreljorpel Gnälch wrelopper.

Bleibt noch ein Umzug der alten Blogeinträge seit 2004 in das neue Gerüst, um zukünftig zur Netzäußerung wieder noch viel weniger vom stinkigen Fressenbuch und sonstigem asozialen Mediengegarxe abzuhängen. Der alte Blog basierte auf dem elegant schlanken, aber leider heftig überalterten Perl-script Blosxom, das mir in letzter Zeit immer mehr Probleme bereitete, bis ich es schließlich entfernen musste. Mal sehen, ob und wie ich das noch hinkriege. Ich hab nicht so viel Lust, alles per copy und paste von A nach B zu heben, aber alle Anleitungen, die ich bisher im Netz gefunden hab, sehen so Ggaaaaaaaaahhhh aus.

Naja. Aber erstmal das Erreichte feiern.
